When I reached my cell phone, I saw one missed call from Treyton. I pulled on my shirt and pants and then called him back. He answered the phone almost immediately.

“Don’t tell me you’re flaking on us?” he teased.

I chuckled. “What are you talking about? I’m still here.”

“I mean the mated life, man. I thought I could always count on you to answer my calls.”

“I was kinda busy,” I mumbled.

Treyton snorted. “Hey, I get it. You can’t keep your dick in your pants around your mate.”

“You’ll learn one day,” I said.

  “Yeah…whatever.”

  “So, what’s up?” I asked.

“I’m on my way out of Arrow Lake. I thought to stop by before I left, but I knew you’d be busy with Violet and all.”

  “Where are you going?”

“Taking a little trip. Canada, maybe,” he replied.

“So, you’re one of the nine? You’re going to hunt for the missing women.”

“I volunteered actually. No one knows the Minnesota-Canada borders like me.”

“You’re right about that.” I swallowed, leaning against the counter and looking out through the kitchen window at the dense thicket of trees. “Hey, be careful. Come back home, okay?”

“I will. You know our motto, cousin. Love you, bro. Also, send Violet my regards even though she tried to stab a motherfucker when we first met.”

  “I will. Safe travels.”

“See y’all when I get back.”

As I hung up the phone with my cousin, Violet walked into the room.

“Well, how’d it go?” I asked.

“She wants to come visit. My dad is still angry and says he’s not stepping foot anywhere in Arrow Lake, but my mom says he’ll come around.”

“You’re his only daughter. I expect the hesitation and the doubts about our relationship. But he doesn’t have anything to worry about. I’m going to take care of you.”

She smiled. “I know. So, about my mom….she’s in distress and wants to see me. She wants to come soon. Like real soon. Like tomorrow soon.”

“Tell her to come on then. We’ll show her how us country boys get down.”

  “You’re something else, Jayce.”

  “Always.”

  VIOLET

  Two months later…

“Oh yeah…like that,” Jayce groaned, as I worked my sex up and down his thick, hard shaft.

His hands gripped my hips as he assisted me in setting a relentless tempo. It didn’t take me long to find out that I loved being on top with Jayce looking up at me with those sexy green eyes of his.

This time we ended up on the floor in front of the fireplace. My breasts bounced and my ass jiggled for his enjoyment. I tilted forward slightly so that his rigid sheath brushed against my clit as I fucked him.

  “Oh…Jayce…I’m coming.”

“Come for me.” As my orgasm rolled through me, he jack-hammered his cock up into me, finding his own release. As we came down from the climax, I rolled off and laid on my back on the plush rug beside him.

“I think we just let the pie burn,” I panted.

He chuckled and sniffed the air. “Yes, we did.” He reached over, grabbed my dress, and handed it to me. “I think you might want to put these on quick. Your friend just pulled up.”

I gasped and jumped up. “We’ve been fucking that long? It was just supposed to be a quickie.”

“There’s no such thing as a quickie around here. Not with that body of yours.”

“Be right back.” I ran off to our bedroom quickly to clean-up and at least make my hair look decent.

I raced back just in time to hear a car door slam shut and Janet’s footsteps pattering up the steps. I passed Jayce in the foyer and yanked the door open.

“Violet!” she screamed and then ran towards me.

We hugged each other like we hadn’t seen each other in years. But really, it had been years.

“Oh God!” she exclaimed. “Look at you. You look great!”

“So do you,” I said. “I’m so happy you’re here.”

We parted from our hug and turned around to find Jayce standing there in the foyer smiling with his arms crossed.

  “Janet, this is Jayce.”

“Hi,” she said, breathlessly. “Wow, so this is how they’re built in Arrow Lake?” She cleared her throat.

Janet and I giggled at the inside joke.

“Hello to you, too. It’s nice to finally meet you.” Jayce held out his hand.

“You too. And I totally forgive you for taking up all of Violet’s time. I can see why now.”

Jayce chuckled. “Well, she’s hard to resist.”

Violet looked down at my left hand, lifting it to glare at the engagement ring on my finger. “Oooooh!” she squealed. “I’m so happy for you. I just cannot wait.”

“You and me both,” I said. “By the way, I’ve been meaning to ask you…will you do the honors of making our wedding cake?”

  “I thought you’d never ask.”

“Come in. We don’t need to stand out here. We have a room for you to put your things. Let’s catch up over lunch,” I said, pulling her in and closing the door behind her.

“I’m going to go get lunch ready. There’s a nice breeze on the patio. I’ll bring it out there,” Jayce offered. He leaned down and swept a kiss across my lips before disappearing into the kitchen.

“You are so lucky,” Janet exclaimed as I walked her to the guest room.

“Yes, I know. Jayce is my life now. I don’t know what I’d do without him.”

I knew Jayce heard me all the way from the kitchen. Either way, he already knew how I felt about him.

He was my life. And I was going to make him the happiest man alive.
